Here are the notes I submitted to the proceedings of the summer school XXVII Escuela de Verano en Física organized by the Instituto de Física and the Instituto de Ciencias Físicas of UNAM, where I taught a short course on the calculation of optical properties of metamaterials (in Spanish).
